Craft quest: Cobweb crochet shawl - picot edge and all

The cobweb crochet shawl is done!! It is very pretty, although it has been made with a very simple pattern. I finished it up with a picot edge and I was careful to see that the edges lined up perfectly into a very neat rectangle. I was glad to put the final stitch into it.

Now, I have another finisher, upper.!! This is a rug that I started awhile ago. It actually is more like a blanket. I am not yet sure what it will be as its character may still be altered. Right now it is quite huge, but I still have about 2/3 balls of yarn left over that I intend to use on it. The kids just love the feel of the yarn and so do I - the yarn is Bernat velour. It really feels so soft and cuddly. That is why I feel I may make it into a blanket instead, by adding a nice satin backing to it. I wish I could publish the whole picture, but I am using the scanner to publish these pictures for now. I loathe having to go and buy another digital camera. This one that fell and won't work for me anymore cost a pretty packet.

Anyway, here is another picture of a crochet dress that I made earlier. This reminds me - the very first crochet dress I made was when I was sixteen - many, many, many years ago and I used to wear it with so much pride. It had a red skirt and the top was white with long sleeves that were red at the top and white the rest of the way down to the wrists. I had lined it with red material on the top and white under the skirt so the pattern was very striking. I would love to make it again for my daughter - but today's fashion will not prompt her to wear it.... so I must evolve instead.

The wedding dress

Well, I have not quite finished the shawl. I am doing the finishing touches though, a picot edge which needs only a teeny weeny bit more.

So, I thought, let me show you the wedding dress that I made. It is up for sale on my website and my daughter is showing it off. It took me a month but it was so worth it. It looks gorgeous. The pictures do not do it justice. I am thinking of making a matching bolero to go with it.

Everyday, for the next few days, I will publish other items that I have made. Most often, I follow my own heart, when fashioning a design. I want to start writing down the pattern so I can share. I must remind myself in future, to make notes as I work. My first love will always be crochet. When I knit, I mostly use the machines and very often, my garments are a knit/crochet combo of some sort.

My shawl is almost done. It was supposed to be done 2 days ago. I got sidetracked making these lace up boots for a special order and I raced to finish it by Thursday which was when it was needed.
Now I am back to finishing up the shawl and I am almost done. The digital camera fell and broke, so I am having to rely on the scanner, so I will not be able to post the whole picture but small snippets. Comments are very welcome.

I started this shawl yesterday and I am almost at the half way point and boy! does it look gorgeious. This is also the very first time that I am blogging and I do not know what I am doing, but.... I am just going with the flow. I guess it will make sense somewhere down the line, as I search this out and find out how other bloggers operate exactly.

Anyway, as I was saying, I hope to finish the shawl tomorrow or maybe the day after and then it will go on my website: www.designerknitsandcrafts.com to be sold. My daughter checked it out and already I could hear her asking me to make it into an outfit for her instead, but she bit her tongue and kept her words in check - so a shawl it has proceeded to be. Here - I have scanned and uploaded a picture and if I do say so myself, I think it does look very pretty. I welcome comments and critique too. More in my next blog as soon as I view what others have written and I find out more about the whole blogging experience....
